Owner of the world's largest luxury group and known as the wealthiest person in France, Arnault’s eminence is reflected in his Giga yacht “Symphony”.
Bernard Jean Étienne Arnault is chairman and chief executive of French conglomerate Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, commonly known as LVMH. As of August 2021, Arnault is the third-richest person globally, with a net worth of $174 billion.
Europe knows him as the one who revitalized French couture in 1995. Some of his fashion brands and subsidiaries' products can be found among the rich and famous and include iconic names such as Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Fendi, to name just a few. *See graphic below
Of LVMH’s 75 prestigious brands, Arnault controls around 60 subsidiaries. There are six branches of subsidiaries that are often managed independently: Fashion Group, Wines and Spirits, Perfumes and Cosmetics, Watches and Jewellery, Selective Distribution, and Other Activities. In Other Activities, Arnault's group has invested in the luxury yacht market. In 2008 they acquired the Royal van Lent Shipyard, sold under the Feadship brand, and purchased a 75% stake in Princess Yachts.
Bernard's First Symphony
"A symphony must be like the world. It must contain everything." - Gustav Mahler
"Luxury goods are the only area in which it is possible to make luxury margins" - Bernard Arnault
Feadships are considered the Rolls Royce of yachts, although this analogy does not do Feadship justice. Some of the finest and most unique luxury yachts on the planet are Feadships.
At 101.5-meters, the six-deck Gigayacht Symphony was the first-ever Feadship to cross the 100-meter mark, arriving in 2015. It was also the first Feadship to be fully compliant with the new passenger yacht code regulations, allowing her to carry 20 passengers in eight cabins, more than the usual 12.
A masterpiece of elegance, detail and execution, it won the 2016 World Superyacht Awards in the prestigious category of yachts of 2,999GT and above.
Here's how Feadship describes their masterpiece:
"Her vast size has been used to great effect across six decks of sumptuous facilities and technical excellence, including a fully operational helicopter pad.
The sun deck is home to an observation lounge, bar and Jacuzzi, while the bridge deck includes a large terrace with outdoor cinema. A vast owner’s deck includes a beautiful full-beam stateroom with double bathrooms, dressing rooms and a sauna, a forward terrace with Jacuzzi, a private office and a study, a lounge and a spacious aft deck area for lounging with a dining table for twenty.
Among the many fine features found on the main deck is a 6-metre contraflow swimming pool complete with its own waterfall.
The lower deck is home to an ultra-high definition cinema, a lounge area below the glass-bottom swimming pool, a beach club and a wellness centre. The yacht has been designed as the ideal place for its sixteen guests to enjoy themselves and entertain." - Feadship
